Еще один громкий камбэк грозит музыкальной сцене: после 11 лет небытия группа Faith No More, распавшаяся в 1998 году, возвращается в мир шоу-биза.
Представители группы говорят, что Faith No More вернутся в том самом составе 1998 года: вокалист Майк Паттон, клавишник Роди Боттум, басист Билли Гулд, ударник Майк Бордин, гитарист Джон Хадсон. В планах музыкантов - выступить на нескольких европейских музыкальных фестивалях, однако речь о новом материале пока не идет.
Faith No More были созданы в Калифорнии в 1982 году и за время своей карьеры выпустили 6 студийных альбомов. Группа не добилась большого коммерческого успеха, хотя их диск «The Real Thing» (1989) стал платиновым в США. Metallica, Anthrax и Guns N’ Roses называли Faith No More своей любимой группой.

«FAITH NO MORE всегда оставались неким уникальным зверем — частично собакой, частично кошкой. Музыка группы настолько же шизофренична, насколько наполнена индивидуальностью каждого участника. Когда все её части работают, они работают отлично, даже если отношения внутри всегда были неустойчивыми.
На протяжении 17 лет нашего существования наша умственная и физическая энергия, требуемая для того, чтобы поддерживать жизнь этого существа, была колоссальной и неисчерпаемой. Несмотря на дружеские отношения на тот момент, когда мы распались, мы пошли каждый своим путём и, казалось бы, должны были оказаться на противоположных концах Вселенной. Тем не менее, все эти 10 лет, которые прошли с момента распада группы, ходили постоянные слухи, и мы получали запросы от фэнов и промоутеров. По какой-то причине никто из нас не общался регулярно и тем более, не обсуждал возможность того, чтобы собраться вместе.
В этом году в первый раз мы решили собраться вместе и поговорить об этом. И мы обнаружили, что это время позволило нам трезво взглянуть на прошедшие годы и понять, что несмотря на тяжёлый труд, музыка всё ещё звучит отлично, мы начинаем ценить тот факт, что мы, наверное, сделали всё правильно. Мы обрели себя в момент отсутствия обязательств перед лейблами, всё ещё юными и сильными для того, чтобы навести шуму, с энтузиазмом, но не только для того, чтобы вернуться в прошлое, но и сделать что-то в будущем. Поэтому мы решили все вместе задержать дыхание и прыгнуть с обрыва... Назад, Боже упаси, в обезьянью клетку!!
Мы можем только надеяться, что опыт игры вместе снова приведёт к оригинальным результатам, и они будут достаточно непредсказуемыми, чтобы соответствовать наследию FNM. Кто знает, станет ли это концом или возрождением... Только будущее знает. Но мы собираемся узнать об этом!»

Агент Patton'а заявил, что группа выступит только в Европе, в США концерты не планировались. Точные даты и страны будут названы позже.

Посетители русских концертов Faith No More наверняка обратили внимание, что Майк Паттон несколько раз обращался к публике с интонациями рэпера. Как оказалось, Майк вполне в традиции Системы Станиславского входил в образ зажравшегося героя хип-хопа: набрал несколько лишних килограммов и в итоге добился аутентичного исполнения одиозной песни Канье Уэста и Джей-Зи «Ni**as In Paris».
Остаток европейского тура FNM будут доигрывать, включив в сет-лист номер «Why Do You Bother», внутри которого размещен «сниппет» (мэшаперская вставка) с аутентичным переложением рэп-гимна. TOMAHAWK ANNOUNCE TOUR DATES IN SUPPORT OF UPCOMING DISC ‘ODDFELLOWS’
If you’ve ever wanted a heavier version of the Beach Boys, well, here’s your chance. Tomahawk, the group made up of Mike Patton (Mondo Cane, Faith No More), Duane Dennison (The Jesus Lizard, Unsemble), Trevor Dunn (Fantomas, Melvins Lite) and John Stanier (Battles, Helmet) are back with a new disc on the horizon and a handful of tour dates on tap.
It’s been a few years since Tomahawk recorded new music but their new disc ‘Oddfellows’ is scheduled for a January 2013 release, aiming to start the year off right. Dennison recently talked to Rolling Stone about the upcoming disc. “This is a full-on rock album,” he expressed. “There’s no quirky weirdness – it’s very straightforward for us. There’s almost like this weird, upbeat sound, what I call ‘heavy pop,’ and Patton totally got the vibe right away… really heavy Beach Boys.”
For fans hoping to get a taste of what’s in store before next year, Tomahawk plans to release a 7-inch single titled ‘Waratorium’ that will be available on Nov. 23 as part of a Record Store Day’s Black Friday event. The special offering will feature an original etching by cartoonist Ivan Brunetti on the b-side making it quite a collectible. The digital release will follow a week later.
Leading up to the release of their new disc, the band has announced a handful of tour dates including stops at the Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans, La. at the end of October and Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Texas in November. Captured on this CD is a remarkable performance of Laborintus II, only the third recording released to the public since it was first performed in 1965. Described as a music theatre work by its pioneering composer Luciano Berio (1925-2003), the avant garde piece was commissioned by the national radio agency of France to celebrate the 700-year anniversary of the birth of Dante Alighieri in 1265. Making its world premiere on French radio network ORTF in September 1965, Laborintus II is an edgy audial montage of voices, instrumentation and tape.
Laborintus II was inspired by the writings of Dante scholar Edoardo Sanguineti, who wrote the accompanying libretto. Whereas Berio was renowned for layering sounds and overlapping musical genres in his compositions, Italian poet Sanguineti employed the same patchwork and overlap technique with the words he used, the sources he drew from and the images his writing evoked for Berio s musical works. Pulling from his original work of poetry Laborintus, published in 1956, Sanguineti also wove in lines from Dante, T.S. Eliot, Ezra Pound, St. Isidore of Seville and the Bible for Laborintus II to highlight the timelessness of love and mourning, usury and revolt, all of which are interlinking themes in this work. In short, Laborintus II is a modern plunge into the layers of hell, specifically the Inferno that Dante immortalized in The Divine Comedy.
Conducted by Georges-Elie Octors, this live performance of Laborintus II at the 2010 Holland Festival in Amsterdam was narrated by another pioneer in experimental music, esteemed vocalist Mike Patton, best known as lead singer of American post-punk band Faith No More. Dutch choir Nederlands Kamerkoor provided the haunting female voices and chorus, while Brussels-based Ictus Ensemble performed the musical accompaniment to this work that is considered one of Berio's masterpieces work as well as the great experimenter's most unusual creation.

Finally, it would be remiss to not ask about Faith No More. "We're pretty happy with just touring. There was talk, 'Should we write new stuff?' and we all looked at each other and said 'Nahhh, f--- it.' We did work up one new little thing (Matador is on Hit's Facebook page) and that was really energising."
