In the second show of Nine Inch Nails U.S./Canada “Tension 2013″ tour on Sept. 30th at Sprint Center in Kansas City, Trent Reznor gave a solo spotlight to new backup singer Sharlotte Gibson (Avenged Sevenfold, Whitney Houston, Rod Stewart) during the song “Even Deeper.” The solo spot features Gibson wailing and improvising over the NIN tune, reminiscent of Pink Floyd’s song ”The Great Gig in the Sky.” Gibson’s solo was greeted with loud applause from the audience. The revamped lineup also features backup singer Lisa Fischer (Rolling Stones) and veteran bassist Pino Palladino (The Who) who also played bass on several Hesitation Marks tracks.
Nine Inch Nails stage show and some song arrangements appear different than previous concerts on the tour. 6 songs from Hesitation Marks that have previously never been played live are also featured. Although the new musicians do not have the same aggressive stage presence as the regular NIN touring lineup, they do add different elements to the sound. Reznor is now concentrating primarily on singing and some keyboard playing with guitarist/bassist/keyboardist Josh Eustis now performing guitar and keyboard duties. The new lineup may not please fans of Nine Inch Nails traditional 5 piece lineup but it should make these new concerts unpredictable and unique.

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor discussed pushing forward musically in a new interview with SMH.
“The most confounding aspect of being older and having a career that has lasted a long time is trying to imagine how other people see you, especially younger people,” Reznor says. ”I see myself trying to figure out to push boundaries and expand my sound, and stumble into new places and figure out how to write better songs. But the moment that what I do under the moniker of Nine Inch Nails is just so people can go, ‘I loved those guys back in high school’, I don’t want to do it. My enemy in this is nostalgia.”

Nine Inch Nails have previously collaborated live with Gary Numan during the Wave Goodbye tour performing tracks such as “Cars,” “Metal,” Down in the Park,” and “I Die: You Die.” Last night, the band met back with Numan to perform “Reptile” and “We Take Mystery (To Bed).”

Выступление Nine Inch Nails в Санкт-Петербурге запланировано на 13 июня в Ледовом Дворце. Концерт в Москве намечен на 15 июня, место его проведения пока не определено.

Nine Inch Nails were doing a show in Vegas over the weekend when front man Trent Reznor pulled out his phone during the show to facetime with a fan and photojournalist (Andrew Youssef) who could not make the show because doctors have given him only a few weeks left to live. You can hear the crowd chanting his name ANDREW ANDREW ANDREW. Trent dedicated In This Twilight to him. Excuse me now while I go sit in the corner and weep for the rest of day. DAMN.
