Сейчас полным ходом идет работа над новым альбомом команды Red Hot Chili Peppers. В интервью MusicRadar ударник Чад Смит поделился подробностями новой студийной работы группы.
«Думаю, что мы уже на полпути к завершению работы над пластинкой. У нас есть около 20 песен, еще над несколькими мы трудимся. Для окончательной версии альбома мы выберем лучшие из них», — рассказал барабанщик RHCP.
Чад Смит также отметил, что они частенько прощаются с некоторыми песнями, когда трудятся над очередным альбомом. Кроме того, 48-летний музыкант заверил, что их десятый студийник не будет двойным, как предыдущий альбом «Stadium Arcadium».
С новым гитаристом Джошем Клингхоффером, заменившем Джона Фрусчанте, группе работается комфортно: «У него потрясающее звучание, он музыкально образован и полон идей», — отметил Смит.
Очередной альбом Red Hot Chili Peppers может появиться в продаже весной или же летом 2011 года. К слову, на следующее лето у группы уже запланировано несколько фестивальных выступлений.
Напомним, последний альбом Энтони Кидиса и Ко, который назывался «Stadium Arcadium», вышел в 2006 году. После турне в его поддержку участники группы ушли в отпуск.
За последние три года басист Фли сотрудничал с лидером Radiohead Томом Йорком, барабанщик Чад Смит выступал вместе с супергруппой Chickenfoot, Энтони Кидис занимался воспитанием сына и сценарием для сериала канала HBO. В декабре гитарист Джон Фрусчанте заявил о своем уходе из группы.
За 17 лет карьеры Red Hot Chili Peppers выпустили девять студийных альбомов и несколько сборников. Общий тираж релизов группы составляет более 55 миллионов копий. Также команда получила шесть премий Grammy.

Red Hot Chili Peppers настолько позабавила эта история, что они решили позаимствовать это название.
Впрочем, Кидис заметил, что это пока рабочее название альбома и в перспективе оно может быть изменено.
Грядущая пластинка, выход которой запланирован на 2011 год, станет десятым студийным альбомом в дискографии Red Hot Chili Peppers. В записи этого диска не принимал участие гитарист Джон Фрусчианте, которого сменил в группе Джош Клингхоффер. Продюсером пластинки выступает Рик Рубин.
Предыдущий альбом Red Hot Chili Peppers, "Stadium Arcadium", вышел в мае 2006 года. Пластинка возглавила хит-парады США, Великобритании и еще 16 стран. После тура в поддержку "Stadium Arcadium" группа ушла в длительный творческий отпуск.

Продюсированием «I'm With You» занимался давний соратник музыкантов Рик Рубин (Rick Rubin), ответственный за саунд их классических дисков «BloodSugarSexMagik» и «Californication».

Produced by Rick Rubin, IЎЇm With You is the Los Angeles quartetЎЇs first studio album since the 2006 double-disk set, Stadium Arcadium. The 14-song record also marks the debut of the Chili PeppersЎЇ new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who joined in the fall of 2009 following the departure of John Frusciante. The latter guitarist had been a crucial writer as well as player on the Chili PeppersЎЇ biggest albums, including 1991Ўдs Blood Sugar Sex Magik and 1999Ўдs Californication. But after he quit, Kiedis and bassist Flea Ў°had this intuitive feeling,Ў± the singer says. Ў°WeЎЇre not really done. We wanted to maintain the Red Hot Chili Peppers if we could do it in a way that upheld historcially what we had accomplished.
Ў°There were some interesting conversations,Ў± Kiedis goes on, Ў°about do we try to find someone we donЎЇt know, or maybe there is somebody right in our own backyard who is the perfect solution.Ў± Klinghoffer, 31, was a veteran sideman who had recorded and toured with Beck, PJ Harvey and Tricky, among many others. He was also a friend of FruscianteЎЇs, working on several of that guitaristЎЇs solo records, and had performed with the Chili Peppers on their last world tour, playing extra guitar and keyboards.
Ў°I felt like I had the experience,Ў± Klinghoffer says in his first-ever press interview, sitting next to Kiedis on a couch in the singerЎЇs Malibu home. Ў°There was no real adjustment. This is playing music with people I admire and who have been friends for years.Ў±
Ў°Josh has not lacked the necessary assertions,Ў± Kiedis notes. Ў°His voice is as dominant as any other voice on the record.Ў± That is literally true. In addition to playing guitar, Klinghoffer contributed keyboards and backing vocals. He also co-wrote the music with Kiedis, Flea and drummer Chad Smith.
The albumЎЇs first single, Ў°The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie,Ў± is a hard-pop spin on classic Chili Peppers funk, with a creeping bass line and a marching-disco rhythm in the chorus reminiscent of the late-Seventies Rolling Stones. In fact, Flea likens the rich propulsive interplay on IЎЇm With You ЁC the mix of jamming exploration, textural guitar details and savvy hooks in songs such as Ў°The Monarchy of Roses,Ў± Ў°Factory of FaithЎ± and Ў°Goodbye HoorayЎ± ЁC to the classic Stones albums like Exile on Main Street and Tattoo You that he listened to religiously as the Chili Peppers wrote and improvised on new material in 2009 and 2010. The Red Hot Chili Peppers tenth studio album, "I'm With You" comes out Aug. 30, following 2006's Stadium Arcadium and marking the debut of new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.
"Josh is fantastic," Rick Rubin says. "He played with John Frusciante for many, many years and he actually toured with the Red Hot Chili Peppers before, so he's sort of part of the extended family. He's stylistically very close to John Frusciante but has a completely different trip. It sounds like the Red Hot Chili Peppers that you've never heard before."
Rick Rubin says the group was prolific during its sessions and could well have done another double-disc like Stadium Arcadium but ultimately felt like we did that. It was painful not to share all of the material that we had, but we felt it would be too much. We really wanted I'm With You to be 12 songs long but it ended up being 14 just because nobody could agree on which 12".

Flea on New Chili Peppers Album

- Definitely. We've always all loved African music. Throughout our career we've played some African bits, but we never really captured it right. Josh and I tripped around Ethiopia with a group called Africa Express, which Damon Albarn [Blur, Gorillaz] organized. We saw music every night and jammed with musicians. Ethiopia is such a great country, beautiful place. So there are a couple African parts on the new songs. One is called "Take Me Home," which has a real African feeling, and there's another called "Ethiopia." I'm really grateful to Damon for bringing me along. It really widened my scope of humanity.
'I’m With You' has plenty of the Chili Peppers’ trademark funk-rock shove and swing.
'Even You Brutus?' is a heavy ballad powered by dark chimes of piano & peaking with a chorus that mid-seventies Aerosmith would envy.
'Monarchy of Roses' = Disco Sabbath. that's how the record kicks off I see
'Brendan's Death Song' = part acoustic mourning, part galloping hard rock sendoff (venice queen vibes) that they wrote on their first day together as a band nearly two years ago
'Annie Wants A Baby': also mostly written on that first day is a funky dark thing laced with snaky riffing
'The Adventures of Raindance Maggie' : "a hard-pop spin on classic Chili Peppers funk, with a creeping bass line and a marching-disco rhythm in the chorus reminiscent of the late-Seventies Rolling Stones"

RHCP have started recording new music video for their single ‘The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie’
The video is being directed by up-and-coming ‘Gucci Gucci’ female rapper Kreayshawn.
Michelle Priddy, a dancer in the music video for The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie tweeted a picture of the guys rockin’ out during the video shoot yesterday
