Переработка этого рок-боевика с альбома «Led Zeppelin III» (1970) будет использована в трейлере к фильму «The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo» режиссера Дэвида Финча.

Fight Club writer Jim Uhls has been tapped to write Trent Reznor’s HBO/BBC Worldwide Productions miniseriesYear Zero.
Based on the 2007 album by Reznor’s Nine Inch Nails, the concept recording criticizes the U.S. government -- specifically the Bush years -- and presents a dystopian vision of the year 2022. Reznor has already adapted the album into an alternate reality game.
Uhls, repped by CAA, penned the screenplay for Fight Club and Jumper.
Reznor most recently picked up the Academy Award for penning the original score, with Atticus Ross, to Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Network. He also composed the score for Sorkin’s upcoming adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
The epic sci-fi miniseries is a co-production of HBO and BBC Worldwide Productions.

Трент Резнор (Trent Reznor) объявил, что саундтрек к фильму Дэвида Финчера (David Fincher) "Девушка с татуировкой дракона", написанный им вместе с Аттикусом Россом (Atticus Ross), выйдет отдельно за пределами США - на лейбле Mute Records.
Более подробная информация об этом будет доступна 2 декабря.
Резнор и Росс уже написали совместными усилиями один саундтрек - к фильму "Социальная сеть". Плоды трудов оказались чрезвычайно успешными: саундтрек получил "Оскара" и "Золотой Глобус" в придачу.
Судя по трейлеру к новому фильму, в котором звучит кавер на "Immigrant Song" Led Zeppelin в исполнении Резнора и Карен О (Karen O), новый саундтрек также обещает быть весьма интересным.
Необходимо отметить, что после завершения работы над этим проектом, Резнор планирует заново заняться Nine Inch Nails, самым знаменитым своим проектом, который он принял решение приостановить в 2009 году

The musician, who has just completed work on the soundtrack for David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo film, has confirmed that he will resume work under the moniker of Nine Inch Nails in earnest next year. He last released a full album under the name Nine Inch Nails in 2008 with 'The Slip'.
Speaking to The Sun, Reznor said that his focus was now very much on Nine Inch Nails, saying: "Nine Inch Nails is not dead by any means, but all the touring and record writing has been thrown off for a little bit. I highly expect that to be the focus of 2012 in terms of writing and we may see a full-length release even".
Reznor also revealed that he took inspiration from David Bowie when he decided to temporarily abandon Nine Inch Nails in favour of new project How To Detroy Angels and work on the soundtracks of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and the Oscar winning The Social Network.
He said of this: "It started to feel like if I didn't force myself into a change I would regret it. It's a fear of not wanting to try things because you're in a comfort zone. I always think about my hero David Bowie and his fearlessness to destroy something that isn't ready to break yet and start something new".
He continued: "He'd throw out an identity, confuse his audience and it's a great risk career-wise. But he had the balls and didn't milk it out to the last drop".
Trent Reznor's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo soundtrack, which he has composed with Atticus Ross, will be released later today, with a sampler, consisting of six tracks, available for free download now from Dragontattoo.sandbaghq.com.
The remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo has been directed by David Fincher and stars Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. It will be released in UK cinemas on December 26. You can watch the trailer for the film by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking.

Over on Echoing the Sound, TheBang posted the fruits of a $100 purchase: A first generation video recording of NIN's infamous performance on Dance Party USA, from 1988 or 1989. The only evidence of the existence of this clip, for a long time, was the sample "Let's hear it for Nine Inch Nails, woo! They're good!" on the US Head Like a Hole single.
Over a decade later, a Closure DVD set surfaced on The Pirate Bay, and it contained a short clip of the performance. Now the whole thing has been uploaded to YouTube, so in a matter of hours (or days), all the usual music blogs will be posting it without all the cutesy backstory and credit that we like to bring to our posts. Well, when we post anything at all.
Not long after that, Trent posted the following to Twitter:
Many years ago, a young and naive Nine Inch Nails were asked what TV shows they'd be interested in appearing on. As a joke (and likely drunk), they thought of the most absurd choice they could come up with at the time. They were then informed their bluff had been called and were actually booked on said show (thanks again Sioux Z). They hopped in their Honda Civic touring vehicle (hatchback) and travelled many miles to (I think) NJ for the big show. They had a laugh making fun of the people, their fashion choices and hairstyles. Life was good. Years later, the internet is discovered...
There's a moral in there somewhere.
Come to think of it, Skrillex may indeed owe me some publishing on that hairdo...

Sorry for the radio silence lately… I’ve been busy! There’s a number of things to be revealed over the coming months. Some you may expect, others you may not. Patience, my friends.
Today’s news is about my band How To Destroy Angels. I’m happy to announce we’ve formally partnered with Columbia Records for our next series of releases. The first of these will be available in November and it’s called An Omen EP. As you may have guessed, it’s an EP. It contains six songs, some of which are from our full-length LP which is coming early next year. We are making some videos, we are going to be performing live, and that’s all the details I have for now on those matters.
Regarding our decision to sign with Columbia, we’ve really spent a long time thinking about things and it makes sense for a lot of reasons, including a chance to work with our old friend Mark Williams. There’s a much more granular and rambling answer I could give (and likely will in an interview someplace) but it really comes down to us experimenting and trying new things to see what best serves our needs. Complete independent releasing has its great points but also comes with shortcomings.
We are all very excited about you checking out the new stuff. Wish I could tell you more, but you know how this works… it would take all the fun out of it!

Последнее время Резнор был занят сочинением музыкой для фильмов: в числе его работ – саундтреки к «Социальной сети» и «Девушке с татуровкой дракона». Тем не менее, музыкант не забывал и о главной группе своей жизни: в одном из недавних интервью он заявил, что уже начал готовить материал для очередного альбома Nine Inch Nails.

Trent Reznor recently spoke with Talking Heads singer David Byrne at the Aratani/Japan America Theater in LA, and during that chat, he explained his reasoning behind signing to a major label again.
“We’re playing in Prague, but I see flyers up for Radiohead, who are playing the same place we’re playing, six months from then. Then I walk into the record shop, and there isn’t a section that says Nine Inch Nails,” Reznor said.
“It was, one, to have a team of people who are better at that [marketing] than I am, worldwide… that felt like it was worth slicing the pie up monetarily. So far it’s been pleasantly pleasant.”

TRENT REZNOR ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH BEATS BY DRE
The mystery collaboration Trent Reznor has hinted at before has been revealed, as Reznor will apparently be working on “a number of interesting projects” with the headphone company Beats by Dre.
According to Reznor’s Facebook, the experiemental results of the project will be available in 2013.
“Some of you may have read that I have begun working with Beats By Dre. For the past year I have indeed been involved with Dre, Jimmy Iovine, Luke Wood, and the rest of the team on a number of very interesting projects that will start to emerge next year,” he wrote. “I have been wanting to experiment and focus my energy and creativity in some different directions, and Beats has afforded me that very opportunity. The process has been challenging and fascinating and as much as I’d like to tell you about the things we’ve dreamed up… I just can’t. Not yet… (I can tell you it’s probably not what you’re expecting!)”

Trent Reznor and his manager Jim Guerinot recently sat down with Techdirt to discuss, amongst other things, Reznor’s record deal. Guerinot explained in depth the kind of deal that Reznor signed, which is not a standard record deal:
“It’s a licensing arrangement. The deal that Trent is able to do at this stage of the game is different than what he would have been able to do at 19 years old coming into his first arrangement…. There are always different levels of accommodation and leverage that you’re able to do. For Trent, fortunately, at this stage of the game, he’s able to license it and continue to own his masters… and, really, that’s the most relevant thing about the deal,” Guerinot said.
Guerinot also maintains the importance of Reznor maintaining the masters of any work he does:
“The toughest thing is when an artist takes an advance, pays back the advance, and doesn’t own his masters. That’s always been — and I’ve argued this with my friends who run major labels — that is the single greatest difficulty and why so many artists don’t trust labels. At the end of the day, artists have paid 50% of every video that gets made — it’s recouped against an artist account. But they didn’t benefit from the YouTube deal. They didn’t benefit from the creation of Vevo, despite the fact that it’s their money that went to creating that.”
Reznor also offered some advice to up and coming musicians dreaming of making it big someday:
“My advice today, to established acts and new-coming acts, is the same advice I’d give to myself: pause for a minute, and really think about ‘what is your goal? where do you see yourself?’ When I was coming up, things weren’t disrupted, and there was a logical progression…. As a 22-year-old kid in Cleveland, it seemed to me that just playing out in bars, hoping someone noticed your band, and then offered you a record contract, while that’s possible, I didn’t know anybody, and didn’t know anybody who knew anybody that that had ever happened to. The strategy, then, was let’s work on getting a band, and something that means something, music that matters, music that I feel proud of, and a vibe and name and ‘brand’ of this thing, and then try to reach maybe some small labels that had music in the same vein of what I liked. It didn’t work exactly that way, but that type of archetype of a plan led me to focus my energies on the thing that did start, and that fuse got lit, and it wound up happening.”
On February 21, 1995, Stephanie Nahas posted to alt.music.nin about meeting up with Danny Lohner, who mentioned at the time that Coil had remixed Eraser for an upcoming remix album. Sometime in the next few months, someone with reliable contacts with the Coil and NIN camps let on that several remixes were completed by Coil, but not all of them made the remix album. The Nine Inch Nails discography was updated to add the following tracks to "NIN PHANTOM SONGS"
Eraser (a version with worms) The Downward Spiral (a gilded sickness) The Downward Spiral (fullblown)
These were added a few lines below this existing entry:
Gave Up (remix by coil, used in movie Young Americans, faster than fixed version and uses the same sound template according to John Balance of Coil. fixed version appears on soundtrack)
Over the years, NIN fans helped dig up tracks on that PHANTOM NIN SONGS list, but these proved elusive. Peter Christopherson was asked in 2007 about any unreleased remixes for the launch of remix.nin.com:
"Thanks for writing and listening over the years, but sorry - to the best of my recollection everything we did was already used by Trent in public, except the Broken Movie, which I understand is available from some pirate.com type sites."
With the passing of John Balance and Peter Christopherson, I took the rumors of those remixes of The Downward Spiral and Eraser to be figments of the creative imagination of someone on alt.music.nin - as to the remix of Gave Up that appeared in Young Americans, that concretely existed. In 2012, longtime Echoing the Sound forum member Wizfan, hailing from Greece, contacted Danny Hyde:
"I had seen a YouTube video of yours a couple of years ago. You showed a box with the Nothing logo on it. Do you still have it? Could you tell us about it? We are interested in unreleased songs/remixes by Coil, NIN or other artists."
The response he got was pretty exciting - "sure i have many unreleased versions of Gave up and closer, mixes created on the days but different and unheard even by trent
I also have versions of the downward spiral and eraser mixes on a dat somewhere"
Eight months later, with the help of over fifty members of EchoingTheSound.org, remixes that have sat on DATs - some for over two decades - are now available for you to enjoy.
Special thanks to Wizfan for getting the ball rolling, to David D. Yuhnke for chasing down all the other phantom NIN tracks, Marius Andrei Dima for coming up with photography in very short order, and Danny Hyde for making this possible.

Кристоферсон конечно же ответил что они выпустили все что было сделано, ведь это же очевидно что то, что всплыло сейчас просто отбраковка от более удачных версии на каждый из треков NIN. Можно сказать что это рабочие версии. На все эти треки уже были выпущены замечательные ремиксы, а это просто хранилось в закромах родины. Но вот только сейчас Danny Hyde решил пустить это в народ, а в 1995 году в этом не было смысла. В любом случае миксы неплохие, слушаем и радуемся

But Nine Inch Nails fans can now rejoice: Reznor tells Rolling Stone that the band is working on new material. In an interview surrounding Black Ops 2, Reznor was asked about the likelihood of new NIN music. “All signs point to yes,” he said. Pressed further, he added, “Yeah, there will be new music. There are some things in the works.”
Those “things” could also include live performing again. “Yeah, if it feels right, it’s a possibility,” he says. “I never said that that wasn’t going to happen, just that it couldn’t go on as it was. Having a few years doing other things, I’ve enjoyed [them] and I’m enjoying doing How to Destroy Angels, and there will be a place for stuff that falls in the Nine Inch Nails column of things. It’s a different kind of work.
“Stay tuned,” he adds. “We’ll see what happens here.”

Confirming what he’d hinted at before, Trent Reznor tells The New Yorker that Nine Inch Nails will be recording a new album in the near future. The frontman says that the album will come out in 2014, following a greatest hits collection that will also contain 2 new songs.
Reznor also says he’s been working with Interscope and Beats By Dre on a new music-streaming service tentatively called Daisy. It’s set to launch in early 2013, holds 16 million licensed pieces of music, and uses mathematics to offer “intelligent curation” to the listener. Reznor equates it to “having your own guy when you go to the record store, who knows what you like but can also point you down some paths you wouldn’t necessarily have encountered”

At one point, it reads: “Adrian Belew, who was scoping out TriplePlay, seemed tickled pink by the recent news that he’ll tour this year as Nine Inch Nails’ guitarist.” For those unaware, Adrian Belew has collaborated with NIN on a number of occasions before – namely, on the records The Downward Spiral, The Fragile, and Ghosts I-IV.

Спустя 4 года после заявления о роспуске Nine Inch Nails Трент Резнор анонсировал возобновление деятельности своего наиболее успешного коммерчески проекта.
По словам музыканта, летом этого года Nine Inch Nails вернутся на сцену – в новом составе и полностью «переосмыслив» себя. К уже работавшим ранее с Резнором клавишником Алессандро Кортини и барабанщиком Айленом Рубином присоединятся новые «друзья»: Эрик Эвери из Jane's Addiction, Эдриан Белью из King Crimson и Джош Юстис из Telefon Tel Aviv.
Даты выступлений обновленных Nine Inch Nails будут анонсированы позднее. Ходят упорные слухи, что один из первых концертов группы состоится в рамках фестиваля Lollapalooza, который состоится в мае этого года в Чикаго.
Сообщается, что группа продолжит давать концерты и в 2014-м году.
Напомним, что Трент Резнор заявил о временном прекращении деятельности Nine Inch Nails в 2009-м году. Во время перерыва в карьере группы ее рулевой занялся другими проектами. Nine Inch Nails Share Entire 'Self Destruct' Tour Documentary Online
Trent Reznor also posts rare 2002 performances from New Orleans
Nine Inch Nails have posted a rare 75-minute documentary covering their 1994-1996 "Self Destruct" tour that's packed with concert and behind-the-scenes footage. Available on the industrial rock group's Tumblr, the doc was initially only available on the 1997 Closure VHS. As Reznor notes, the film contains some NSFW content, and also features appearances from David Bowie and Marilyn Manson.
Along with the "Self Destruct" tour film, Reznor also posted another NIN rarity: an acoustic performance of "The Becoming" (from 1994's The Downward Spiral) recorded in 2002 at Nothing Studios in New Orleans and featuring Reznor, Danny Lohner and Jerome Dillon. This version appeared on the deconstructed Still disc of the out-of-print companion compilation And All That Could Have Been, and Reznor also posted two more videos from the Still series, "Something I Can Never Have" and "Gone, Still."
The nuggets come as Reznor prepares to revive Nine Inch Nails with an almost entirely new lineup that includes former Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery, King Crimson guitarist Adrian Belew, keyboardists Alessandro Cortini and Josh Eustis and drummer Ilan Rubin. The band is set to hit the road this summer, with a U.S. arena tour to follow in the fall and then worldwide dates through 2014.

For the last year I've been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly fucking great. This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!”
The revived band is heading out on tour starting this summer. As reported, the touring NIN lineup will include Reznor, Adrian Belew of King Crimson, and Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv, as well as previous NIN collaborators Robin Finck, Alessandro Cortini, and Ilan Rubin.
UPDATE: Belew is not part of the touring band. He just contributed to the album.

The new song, titled “Came Back Haunted,” “harkens back to early Nine Inch Nails,” says Lisa Worden, Music Director for Los Angeles alternative station KROQ.
“I think it’s in line with the first two albums,” Worden continues. “It’s got a great beat, it’s not the experimental material Trent’s done in the last five years.”
Worden indicated the song didn’t strike her as angry. Rather the beat is what made an impression. “I wouldn’t say that it’s dance-y, but it does have a great beat, a groove. Trent [Reznor] really brought it with this song. It’s going to sound amazing to new fans and old. It’s just cool.”
