COURTNEY LOVE AND FRANCES BEAN COBAIN ARE ‘ANGRY’ AT KURT COBAIN FOR COMMITTING SUICIDE
Here are some of my notes from Howard Stern’s recent interview with Courtney Love, there was some repeat stuff that I put in the Opie and Anthony recap instead of this one:
-Courtney said she reconciled with daughter Frances Bean Cobain two months ago and they’ve started e-mailing and talking on the phone. They haven’t seen each other in 3 years but hope to see each other soon.
-Regarding Kurt Cobain’s suicide she said, “Both me and Frances are really angry at him, it wasn’t the right thing to do. He was so young, he was 27. You think you’re 90 when you’re 27, but you’re not.”
-She regrets speaking out about the Dave Grohl trying to sleep with Frances rumor, but said her source is reliable and that Dave spoke about wanting to hook up with Frances, while Frances just wanted to meet Dave out of curiosity. She said if the rumor is indeed true she’ll knock Dave out.
-Mentioned that she was initially angered by the Nirvana/Paul McCartney performance because she thought that they performed a Nirvana tracks. She said she doesn’t have any huge issue with them performing something else, but she thought that if they performed a Nirvana song with him it would have been cheesy. She mentioned that she loves Paul McCartney.
-She likes spending her own money and doesn’t like spending Nirvana money because she sees it as a cursed and dirty. She said a lawyer fucked her over on the deal to sell part of Nirvana’s catalog several years ago.
-Said it was harder to kick Valium and Xanax than heroin.
-On crowd surfing, “What was it like for Eddie Vedder, what was it like for Kurt? For me, they were fingering me.”
-Courtney said the lyric ‘Forever in debt to your prize’s advice’ in Heart Shaped Box is about Soundgarden’s former manager (and Chris Cornell’s ex-wife, Susan Silver) but that most of the song is about her pussy.
-She also said, “It would have disturbed [Kurt] to live through Limp Bizkit. Limp Bizkit was just sort of the end of it.
-Courtney will be playing new material on her summer solo tour, and plans to release new music on Prince’s label

In Utero "20th Anniversary Deluxe Reissue Coming September 2013"
Nirvana’s In Utero to get 20th anniversary reissue
Nirvana’s abrasive follow-up to Nevermind will get the china anniversary treatment later this year.
In 2011, Universal put out a bumper 20th anniversary reissue of the Washington band’s grunge touchstone Nevermind. They certainly didn’t skimp on the trimmings: alongside more modest packages, the label offered a “Super Deluxe Edition” spread over four discs, featuring multiple versions of the album, stacks of bonus and live material, a DVD, and a 90-page book.
As Slicing Up Eyeballs report, the band will follow suit later this year with an In Utero reissue. Released in 1993, the album saw the band recruit Big Black/Rapeman agitator Steve Albini to scuff up their sound in the wake of Nevermind‘s enormous success. Details of the touch-up are fairly scant at present, but the label have uploaded a bizarre 1993 promo clip for the album to Nirvana’s official Facebook page. The clip – more Goodies than grunge – sees a dolled-up Bobcat Goldthwait guiding the band through the miracle of birth; click below to watch.

COURTNEY LOVE WANTS TO PLAY HERSELF IN KURT COBAIN FILM
Courtney Love has revealed that she wants to play herself if there ever is a Kurt Cobain biopic, despite the film being unlikely at this point.
“I know that Universal wants to make the film but I don’t know that I want to do it until…” Courtney told the Huffington Post. “I would feel weird having a film made about me and Kurt unless I was actually acting myself. It would be too weird.”
“There was talk of a biopic a few years back,” she said. “I think I changed my mind about it, but I did do a deal with Universal. Scarlett Johansson was into it; I was also into Michelle Williams. These were the people the studio offered to me. It wasn’t me choosing them. I kind of liked Anna Faris, which everyone said I was insane for, but I thought she kind of looked a little bit like me, and she was a little prettier. [That's] the whole point of Hollywood: I was offered to play Janis Joplin. I’m a little prettier than Janis Joplin so it’s always like that. Whatever.”

On September 24, Nirvana will release a 20th anniversary reissue of their 1993 album In Utero. Featured on the most deluxe version of the reissue is a DVD which includes footage of their Live and Loud performance and more. Also released on the DVD will be the previously unreleased director’s cut of Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box” music video, directed by Anton Corbjin.
The significant changes to the original video appear during the third verse, which features more footage of the young girl and woman with wings as well as Cobain lying in the poppy field.

Я вспоминаю об этом диске, смотрю на старые фотографии и слушаю песни, которые не слышал 20 лет, все эти раритеты и демо, это своего рода путешествие в прошлое».
NIRVANA записали после выпуска альбома демо песни "You Know You're Right" в 1993-м. Grohl вспоминает об этом: «У нас было время до тура, и Курт хотел сделать несколько демо, так что я сказал: "Эй, а чего бы это не сделать в моей студии, которая тут совсем рядом?". И мы отправились туда на 3 дня. Курт появился в последний день, и мы сказали: "Ну ладно, и что ты хочешь сделать?", и он ответил: "Ну, а почему бы нам не сделать тот трек, что репетировали на саундчеке?". И так как мы его репетировали, я немного подумал, и мы всё записали. Курт записал три или четыре тейка для вокала, и всё было готово».
Помимо прочих 70 треков, что войдут в трёхдисковое переиздание альбома, в него будет включена ранее нигде не издававшаяся инструменталка "Forgotten Tune".

KRIST NOVOSELIC AND STEVE ALBINI DISCUSS NIRVANA’S ‘IN UTERO’ IN NEW VIDEO FROM SEATTLE’S EMP MUSEUM
Seattle’s Experience Music Project museum, which features the Nirvana exhibit “Nirvana: Taking Punk to the Masses,” has released a new video in anticipation of the 20th anniversary of Nirvana’s classic 1993 album In Utero as well as the upcoming In Utero reissue set. The video features EMP curator Jacob Murray, In Utero producer Steve Albini, and Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic. ANTON CORBIJN DISCUSSES DIRECTING NIRVANA’S “HEART SHAPED BOX” MUSIC VIDEO
Anton Corbijn the director of Nirvana’s acclaimed ‘Heart-Shaped Box’ video discusses the legacy, casting and more in a new interview with The Daily Beast
On the casting process for the video: “The bigger woman and the child were not so difficult, although it was difficult sometimes I think for the child to act because there was blood coming out of her blouse at some point. But to find an old man who looked like an old man in L.A. was not so easy. [Laughs] In the end we found this fantastic man who had a jazz club or a jazz station on the radio, something like that. Quite into culture. Consequently, he looked fantastic, and not Hollywood-like. But there was a really eerie moment where he fell down while walking, on the set. He had some kind of bowel cancer, which he didn’t know. Something broke open. There was blood everywhere. We had to get the ambulance, and he had to go to the hospital straight off. It was really severe.”
On when he realized the video was going to be iconic: “I think when I saw it on MTV. And Kurt was so happy with it that a few months later he asked me to do another video for them for a song called “Pennyroyal Tea.” But I said, “Kurt, I don’t think I can do it. I’m going to disappoint you. I don’t think I can make another video as good at ‘Heart-Shaped Box.’ I’m not going to live up to your expectations. Then he said, “Well, if you don’t do it, I’ll never do another video again with anybody.” And he never did. “Heart-Shaped Box” became the last video.”
On the message Cobain was trying to convey: “I’m not totally sure. I think there was a very personal thing in there. I never got to the bottom of that. Some idea about cancer in society, as well as proper cancer, but I never … It was not really clear to me, to be honest, what Kurt personally had in there. And there were absolutely personal things in there: maybe to deal with drugs, maybe to deal with Courtney.”

The band’s high energy level carries through the concert and is apparent in this loud, abrasive version of “Scentless Apprentice.”
