Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic revealed that he’d like to perform old Nirvana material live in a new interview with Triple J. When asked if he’d like to come to Australia and perform Nirvana’s old tracks, Novoselic was excited at the possibility. He said, “That’s the best plan I’ve heard all year. It has to happen. I was gonna come over with Dave [Grohl] to do the Sound City thing but that hasn’t happened yet. I wanna get there, man. When there’s a continental drift, I’ll be there.”
Nirvana (Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl, and Pat Smear) have done three high profile reunion performances with Paul McCartney in the last year in New York and Seattle. The group have only performed “Cut Me Some Slack” and old Beatles songs though, not any old Nirvana songs. Guitarist Pat Smear also recently said that he wants the group to perform Nirvana songs live.

Nirvana's 'In Utero' 2013 Mix Headed to Vinyl Double LP version available in November
Nirvana's final album, In Utero, was recently celebrated in a deluxe 20th anniversary reissue. Original producer Steve Albini revisited the album – with full blessings from bandmembers Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic – for a "2013 Mix." Audiophiles can get their hands on this reworking November 29th, when the modern mix is released as a 45 RPM, 180-gram limited edition double vinyl on Black Friday for November's Record Store Day. The record was mastered at Abbey Road Studios with alternative artwork specific to the release.
Last months, Grohl reflected on the album's recording process with Rolling Stone's David Fricke. "Recording with Steve [Albini] – he would hit 'record,' we'd do a take, and he'd go [claps hands], 'Okay, what's next?' Wait, is it okay?" Grohl said. "We blazed through In Utero. I was done after three days. I had another 10 fucking days to sit in the snow, on my ass with nothing to do."

MIKE MCCREADY DISCUSSES PEARL JAM’S RELATIONSHIP WITH KURT COBAIN October 31, 2013
Mike McCready discussed Pearl Jam’s relationship with Kurt Cobain in a new interview with Esquire.
“I’m working on a documentary called The Glamour and the Squalor right now, about a DJ named Marco Collins from Seattle and also San Diego. He was kind of integral to that time, with the alternative bands, all of us, on the radio, in Seattle. There’s some footage of Kurt [Cobain, in the documentary], of him talking about In Utero, and it made me think, “Wow, he’s so young.” He was in his mid-20s, when they interviewed him, and it brought me back to that time when there was this supposed tension between all of us, this press-created thing. There probably was some of that, but toward the end of it, there wasn’t. I think he and Ed had talked. I remember we were at the MTV VMAs, and I just jumped over the seats, and I said [to Cobain], “Hey, I heard you and Ed might be doing a record some day. I’d love to play a lead on it.” And he goes, “Oh, we’ll talk about it some other time.” I just felt like I had to reach out, because there was this weird wall between us, us versus them or them versus us, and it wasn’t. We all came from the same scene, in my mind. We came out of a very provincial city that was not very supportive of music, and we had to do our own thing, and flyer everywhere. There was never support from the city to do music there, not as there is now. We had to do that, Nirvana had to do that, the Soundgarden guys did that, but we’d all go to each other’s shows, too. We’d go to the same parties. So we all kind of came up together. When it got huge and we all went on the road, we were happy for everyone else, and I wish Kurt was happy, too. In this documentary, it made me kind of sad, obviously, to see him as such a young man, and wish he could be around to see where they’d be now, you know what I mean? It’s poignant and it’s celebratory, but also, there’s some sadness and darkness that goes along with it. That being said, In Utero is a fantastic record. I’m glad we’re still around. Soundgarden put out a record last year. Mudhoney played on top of the Space Needle. All sorts of cool stuff has happened, and I celebrate that. What that means today is, wow, we’re still around, I’m very grateful for it. There’s some beauty to it. And there’s some sadness.”
PIXIES GUITARIST CLAIMS KURT COBAIN RIPPED THEM OFF & ADMITTED TO IT
In a recent interview with Reuters, Pixies’ Black Francis and Joey Santiago discussed David Bowie and Kurt Cobain.
Reuters: “Bowie said you ‘changed the format for delivering harder rock’, Kurt Cobain paid you the ultimate compliment by ripping you off. In your own words, what’s your contribution to rock?”
Joey Santiago: “Being original, influencing Nirvana so they could rip a song. I’ll admit it – if Kurt Cobain fessed up to it, fuck it, I’ll agree with it, you ripped us off.”
Reuters: “You said you want to work with Bowie as a backup band. Is it going to happen, is it some special sign of respect?”
Black Francis: “It’s fucking David Bowie! Come on! We could do that. Bowie, the Pixies, together at last! … I think that Dylan and the (Grateful) Dead tour kind of served them both very well.”
