APC’s Iha ducks the spotlight
- You guys seem like the most low-key band around. It’s almost as if you want to avoid attention and publicity.
- Well, Maynard obviously has Tool. And while I can’t speak on his behalf, I think Tool is like this generation’s Led Zeppelin. They don’t have to put their band name on their albums. They don’t have to do press. They just put out music and people love it. As for me, I do what’s required to promote tours and records. But I’m the guitar player. That’s been the way with all the bands I’ve been in.

Friday night, Corey Helford Gallery celebrated a milestone with an opening party for its mega-showcase, Zero to Sixty: Five Year Anniversary Gala Group Exhibition, which refers to the gallery's 60 months in operation, not to mention the rapid acceleration of the gallery's influence on the local art scene. Unveiling over 50 pieces that were custom-made for the occasion, Corey Helford invited artists and art-lovers to the kind of booze and sugar-fueled affair where everyone's your friend on Facebook, but no one's your friend in real life.

Bridging the gap between experimental-alternative, metal & progressive ideas of what an album "can be", Aenima was released in 1996 to much anticipation from fans, critics & other artists. Opening with Stinkfist, a song that many consider to be a Tool-staple & closing with the mammoth Third Eye, also considered to be a staple, this album is as relevant today as it was in the mid-1990's. Many Tool fans consider this album to the creative-pinnacle or the essential Tool-release for even the most haphazard of music fanatics.
Each song denotes a certain comment on not only the macro-scale, society at large, but also on the micro-scale, an individual's perception of their place in whatever reality they inhabit. Aenima is not an album that is absorbed after one single listen - this is an album that allows even the most rabid fan to hear something new with virtually ever listen. With the addition of Justin Chancellor on bass, who replaced Paul D'Amour, & thought-provoking subject matter, the album takes the listener on a journey - to what or where, that is not for me to say. Each song may mean something unique to you, me & the next person.
As for the vinyl release, there were only approximately 15,000 copies released in 1996 with no reprints. This is rather hard to find.

For more than 20 years Tool's Maynard James Keenan has been crafting music that's equally menacing and seductive. His latest is "Man Overboard," the first single from his other band Puscifer's second studio album, Conditions of My Parole, out October 18. Listen to the song below, exclusively on SPIN.com.
"Musically, it's like Twin Peaks in the desert," Keenan tells SPIN of the LP and its first single, recorded at his Northern Arizona vineyards. "Man Overboard" is a shadowy industrial boil with revving-Harley guitar riffs, a rolling-tank bass line, and skyward synths fit for a goth choir. And this all is carefully sprinkled with electronic plinks and patters to heighten drama and summon those hairs on the back of your neck.

Billy’s responses were:
• By & Down is the only new APC track for now, and they’re looking at a release in Fall/Winter. Digital download was suggested as the format of the release.
• The recordings for the 2010 show came out well. Billy was quiet as far as a DVD goes, but suggested that some of the live tracks would be available with By & Down.
