Лоханулся он с барабанщиком, но признать это не может. никакие 19 летние сосунки не заменят Джимми Вообще вся это закулисная возня, мало истины достаётся простым поклонникам, все эти заявления о том что он ушёл просто потому что захотел развития - туфта, и так много где, сор из избы выносить никто не любит просто....

It’s ridiculous and completely TAINTS the act of listening to his music. I mean, I used to worship this guy and now I think he’s a total dick. He really just needs to keep his mouth shut, and LAY LOW, and just focus on his core audience. Forget Rolling Stone. Forget Spin. Forget FUCKING RADIO!!! This whole “free album thing” is just bullshit. You were selling albums before, maybe the industry has just evolved to a level where a musician SHOULDN’T attain such a massive level of financial and critical success. He should just be content with his fanbase and stop participating in this bullshit outdated mode of music-marketing.
I don’t think people give enough credit to the fact that if you make a good song, people will hear about it online, and share it. You don’t have to have some huge advertising campaign. It’s 2010, there are a shitload of music blogs and indie bands that self-perpetuate themselves without any gimmicks and attention getting moves simply because they are MAKING MUSIC THAT IS FRESH AND CONTEMPORARY. It’s like he’s trying to co-op the facade of “going viral” and “youth oriented” modes of music consumption when, at the heart, he’s still just a dude from the 90’s trying to get on the cover of Rolling Stone.
It’s just sad and backwards.

Let’s face it… he’s never again going to surround himself with anything other than a bunch of “Yes Men” because he’s too much of a pussy to deal with people who have contrary beliefs than his own. He’s become the epitome of what is wrong with this world, where extremists surround themselves with like-minded idealists, and then ignore the reality they live in as every circle jerks to their own baseless ideals.
It’s just sick. Sicker than any drug addiction, and Jimmy fucking kicked that shit and has moved on to be a caring father and even more of a brilliant drummer than back in the heroin daze.
I think it’s too late for Billy though. He’s too old and too lost to ever find his way out of this madness… it’s just a shame it’s the kind of madness that produces mediocre art and endless social drama.

After briefly outlining Billy Corgan’s rough childhood in a new profile, Rolling Stone associate editor Brian Hiatt noted the 2008 arrest of William Corgan Sr., using it as a stepping-off point to consider Corgan’s dealings with his father and others who have used drugs. Here is an excerpt:
On January 1st, 2008, police in Tampa, Florida, found his 60-year-old father unconscious in his car, a heroin needle in his left forearm. Not for the first time, Billy stepped in to help his dad, bailing him out of jail and paying for rehab. “Billy saved my life so many times,” says Corgan Sr. “I’ve been given more than my fair share of chances to be a human, and I’ve blown it a few times. I grew up in a house of no love or emotion – it kind of sticks with you. You end up passing it on to your kids, and we’re hoping that we maybe broke the chain.”
Corgan has spent enough time in therapy to know it’s no accident he created a new dysfunctional family in the Pumpkins. He surrounded himself with addicts, from Wretzky and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin to former lover and collaborator Courtney Love. He’s tried to sever every one of those relationships. “If I love somebody, I’ll look the other way,” says Corgan, “and stand there and walk them through their addiction. Maybe because of my father I learned how to do this at a young age.”
He worked with Love on song for her new album, but he wants nothing to do with her now – and if she releases the songs, as it appears she will, “it would be a real big problem, because I haven’t given my permission,” Corgan says. “I have no interest in supporting her in any way, shape or form. You can’t throw enough things down the abyss with a person like that.”

Although I've been blessed beyond belief over the past few years through playing with the Pumpkins, my priority now is to keep our little family unit together, which includes my husband and my baby. Although I do plan on continuing to do music in different forms, my priority is for neither for my husband nor myself to be apart from our daughter so that we can raise her together. I wish Billy all the best and look forward to seeing the Pumpkins in the near future. I would also like to thank all of the Pumpkins fans for all of their support. I will see you at the Pumpkins shows!"

"Although I am heartbroken that Ginger is leaving the group, I really respect her decision to put her family first. I appreciate everything that she has contributed to The Smashing Pumpkins, and I'm proud of her for being such a great musician and friend.
"We were lucky enough to find drummer Mike Byrne through an open audition process," BILLY adds, "so why not open the doors again to anyone who might be interested for the bass or keyboard position. As you can see from our past and present, age, race, or a person's background is not an issue. Everyone is truly welcome to audition."

Corgan also cautions Mayer about speaking to the media so candidly, insisting it could destroy his career.
As if to prove the point, the rocker refused to confirm or deny reports he's dating Simpson in the same interview.
Instead he said, "If people knew her like I knew her, they would love her like I do" - a remark Simpson has already responded to, stating. "I can't find good enough words to speak about Billy."

The Smashing Pumpkins have set a tour date for the first time since 2008, marking off August 7-8 for the two-city Summer Sonic festival in Japan.
The Pumpkins headline the lineup (as posted to the festival website) alongside Jay-Z, the Pixies, the Offspring, and Dream Theater. According to Wikipedia, it is typical that bands booked for Summer Sonic play Tokyo one day and Osaka on the other day.

нет, если туристом, то без заморочек. у нас в конце 2009 года открыли ещё и морское сообщение: Владивосток - Корея - Япония, на пароме, 3 дня ходу, ценник не знаю, не интересовался как-то. Корея мне неинтересна, я там был. А Япония - дичайше дорогая страна, жаль что в Токио и Осаке знакомых нет. In a new interview, Billy Corgan explains exactly what he will be contributing to the upcoming Claire Fercak novelette mentioned in his November 23 post to Everything from Here to There. The Smashing Pumpkins singer tells Rick Florino of ArtistDirect.com:
I am currently writing a long-form story version of the old myth of Medea that will be published in book along side a story by my friend Claire Fercak.
Corgan talks quite a bit about his Teargarden by Kaleidyscope project in the interview, anticipating in particular the eventual recording and release of his song “Spangled” :
There is a song called “Spangled” that I love very much that is sitting in a box waiting to come out. It is not often that the songs I love are the ones others love. but this one might be one of those. It has one of my favorite lines I think I’ve ever written, something about butterflies not being able to make it in the movies.

Report: Photographer Art Shay hired to document Corgan, Pumpkins
Billy Corgan has tapped legendary Chicago photographer Art Shay to chronicle him for the next three years, as the Smashing Pumpkins rocker completes 40 new songs. It was Shay’s photo book Chicago’s Nelson Algren that inspired Corgan to get Shay to tackle the new project. The musician is a big fan of Art’s — having recently purchased several pictures at Shay’s recent show at Thomas Masters Gallery, as did Corgan’s galpal Jessica Simpson, who snapped up a portrait of Dolly Parton.

Yesterday, somewhat to our bafflement, we received a press release from Smashing Pumpkins drummer Mike Byrne — the copy of which does little more than to note the passage of another year:
I am pleased to announce that I am now a 20-year-old man, with two full decades of life experience under my belt. I’m not trying to say I’ve seen it all or I’m done learning or anything like that; however, I am definitionally no longer a teenager and the first numeral in my age now is a “2.” Please take note. Thanks.
Curious as to what prompted this statement, we messaged Mike on Facebook to set up a quick interview over coffee at Stumptown on 3rd Avenue in Portland. Here’s a partial transcript:
Hipsters United: Why the sudden media outreach?
Mike Byrne: Just got tired of hearing about this 19-year-old Smashing Pumpkins drummer! Now that I’m 20, I’m hoping to be called just “Smashing Pumpkins drummer,” or, who knows, maybe even “Mike Byrne.” I don’t have my hopes way up, though.
HU: So that sort of thing upset you, huh?
Byrne: Oh, I’m pretty much over it. But often I’d read something and I’d just think, like, “You realize there’s a saying that music is a young man’s game, right?” Or a woman’s. Hayley Williams is like 21, I think…and hello, when did she start? Punk rock, teenagers, that’s what the myth is all about. You and your high-school buds calling the girls over to watch you blow the garage door off, or at least blow out your crate amp. Fuck, I am getting pissed off again now that we’re talking about it.
Before we could ask (on behalf of certain loyal HU commenters!) if it had ever occurred to Byrne that the problem may not really be so much that he’s young but rather that he just flat-out sucks at drumming, Byrne politely excused himself and exited the coffeeshop, followed closely by two young women.

For the past two Smashing Pumpkins studio releases, Billy Corgan teased the fanbase by posting a photograph of a whiteboard scrawled with song titles that were being developed and recorded at the time to the Internet.
Sometime in the late spring of 1999 we had the Machina board.
Then in the lead up to the release of Zeitgeist, what looked like a cell phone picture of a whiteboard with a fresh set of songs appeared on the Smashing Pumpkins website.
In the recently much discussed March 18th Rolling Stone article, writer Brian Hiatt gave us a little tease of the latest incarnation of the Smashing Pumpkins studio whiteboard. Kerry Brown’s studio in Los Angeles indeed has one, covered with 50 songs written out in ALL CAPS, Hiatt claimed, though he provided only four (perhaps not wanting to waste too many of his 4,500 words on unreleased song titles). And, of course, no picture of the whiteboard accompanied the article. The songs: As Rome Burns, the only one previously known by title, the three unknowns (as far as we know): The Dauphine, Blurricane, and Fate the Lonely Actor.
As for the other 46 SONGS on the board, we’ll just have to wait and see if Billy feels like doing the whiteboard leak thing again. Nothing like deciphering Billy’s dryerasemarkership to pass the time waiting for the next batch of songs.

прочёл я это интервью. Особо интересного ничего нету. Заметил что Корган упомянул что достаточно часто общается с психиатрами и с целителями. Даже с шаманом каким-то затусил =)) Про то что Корган сейчас играет с теми музыкантами , которые ему интересны, про общение с гламурными тётями, аля Джессика Симпсон. Опять говорит что вместо того, чтобы распускать Тыквы в 2000 должен был выгнать Джеймса...
И ещё, цитата от КОргана: "Я хочу чтобы мою работу оценивали как подобает. Это единственная проблема, которую не может контролировать моё эго. В финале обеда я обычно хочу десерт. И я не хочу стоять за стеклом кафе и наблюдать что его кому-то там несут"

Джимми долбанулся, еслив не то время и не Тыквы с Нирванами, счас бы Джимми был обычным нахуй никому ненужным обрыганом. Ненавижу лицимеров.
Я думаю, что Джимми ненавидит "то время" не за то, что ему пришлось участвовать во всем этом музыкальном движении, а по личным причинам, для него тогда действительно были тяжелые времена: наркотики, алкозависимость..

After the red carpet premiere tomorrow, there will be four screenings of the film, which are listed on the festival website. General admission or rush tickets (pun intended?) are still available. After Tribeca concludes, the film will go to Toronto for the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival from April 29 – May 9. And then, on June 26th, the film will make its television debut on VH1 and VH1 Classic.

Subjects addressed in the 140-character chunks include Love’s songwriting or lack thereof, her Facebook apology to Corgan in March, and her loss of custody over daughter Frances Bean Cobain last December.
UPDATE: Smashing Pumpkins producer Kerry Brown threatens the “Doll Parts” singer.
Steven Rosen of the long-running website Ultimate-Guitar.Com has conducted an excellent, 3,000-word interview with Smashing Pumpkins chief Billy Corgan.
The primary topic is the Pumpkins’ in-progress album Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, but Rosen gets Corgan to talk about bandmates Mark Tulin and Mike Byrne, guitarists and guitar playing, psychedelic music, past albums, business and more and more.
Following are but a pair of brief excerpts, first on Corgan’s efforts to write lyrics and music:
[Steven Rosen:] Are there moments when you’ve created a wonderful piece of music and you can’t find a lyric to match that level?
[Billy Corgan:] Oh yes, many times. It is really frustrating. I find tapes all the time where I think, “How could I have not used that riff or chord change?”
[Rosen:] And vice-versa?
[Corgan:] There are always more riffs than words. Words at some point are pretty limiting, especially words that must be sung, but music has an infinity in it that never gets old.
Then, on the future of Teargarden by Kaleidyscope:
[Rosen:] Do you have any sense of how the last batch of songs might sound?
[Corgan:] If you mean by the last, the last of the 44 I hope to finish, I would hope that by then I would have created a whole new exciting Smashing Pumpkins sound that is compatible with the old sound but is wholly different. I am definitely trying.
[Rosen:] Can you see musically that far down the line?
[Corgan:] I can already see where there will be an acoustic type period, and a very experimental period. Right now the stuff is just more rich but easily understood. I’d like to surprise myself by working with different approaches if I can find the time.
[Rosen:] Without being disrespectful, how do you gauge the reaction to your music when the songs are offered for free?
[Corgan:] You can’t. The numbers aren’t real. The real test will be four or five years from now when the work is fully assembled and released.

Smashing Pumpkins acknowledge report identifying new bassist

The Smashing Pumpkins, in retweeting a report by the webzine-slash-record label Buddyhead, would seem to have implicitly confirmed that bassist Nicole Fiorentino is joining the band.
Fiorentino is (or recently has been) part of the Los Angeles-based groups Twilight Sleep and Light FM, the latter of which was on the bill with Pumpkins leader Billy Corgan’s Backwards Clock Society at a benefit concert last November. Previously, Fiorentino recorded and toured with Louise Post’s Veruca Salt on that band’s VSIV album, and she later backed Brody Dalle on tour as part of Spinnerette. Before that, Fiorentino played in L.A. rock outfit Radio Vago.
The Pumpkins had been looking for a new bassist since March, when it was announced that Ginger Pooley had left the group.

It seems Fiorentino has been busy with her own social networking sites, updating her Twitter account for the first time in many months and there’s plenty of activity over at her Facebook page too.
Also of note: the press release mentions that Nicole will be joining the “world tour later this year” which includes the previously-known Japanese dates in August. Wonder when the other dates will begin to surface… we’re less than three months away!

Fercak’s story revolves around the mythological character Echo, while Corgan’s (as previously reported) focuses on Medea. Corgan’s portion will appear in a translation by Nathalie Bru.

Joe Bosso of MusicRadar.com recently conducted a lengthy podcast interview (and 8-page transcript) with Billy Corgan on the future of the Smashing Pumpkins, the recent hiring of Nicole Fiorentino on bass, what he’s looking for in a possible keyboardist and loads more. Plenty of chat for you gearheads too. The second part of the interview is still forthcoming, but this first whopping 20 minutes of chat reveals Corgan’s positive feelings about the current line-up:
[Fiorentino]‘s a lovely, easy person to get along with, and I really, really am exited about this lineup of the band. I think this is the best lineup the band’s had since the original four, and I think we’re really going to put something together. I feel really positive.
And on the forward progress of the songs in the Teargarden by Kaleidyscope catalog:
Well, I finished eight. [laughs] And I’m preparing what will be the next four. I’m looking to when we’ll be recording again. We have some touring coming up, so I’m not really sure. But the next four are ready to go. I’m really enjoying the process; it’s really pushed me to approach my work in a different way, and I think that’s the best thing for me.

From it we learn that Corgan considers the record label he’s starting with producer Kerry Brown to be “still a question mark” and that Corgan “still [has] plans for” his maintenance-undergoing website EverythingFromHereToThere.com.
Palmer does ask one hard-hitting question toward the end:
[Bill Palmer:] I’ve been wanting to ask you this for awhile: Most people named William who go by “Billy” in childhood (myself included) have ended up switching to “Bill” at some point in adulthood. What made you stick with “Billy”?
[Corgan:] My real name is William. It is probably time to give up the ghost of Billy.

а ты думаешь так просто договориться с лэйблом о выпуске старого барахла, которое никому, кроме фанов Тыкв, по-большому счёту не нужно будет? чёрт его знает, индустрия сейчас в упадке глобальном, резона особо нет для EMI издавать всё это, ну разве что упаковать в лимитированные бокс-сэты.

выпускть надо на своём лэйбле, который они открыли с Керри Брауном и не трахать мозг. во-первых, всё будет под собственным контролем, во-вторых, прибыли больше будет от продаж, т.к. не придётся отстёгивать % мудакам боссам etc.

Then Jeff rehearsed… and now Billy again with various interludes filling the spaces.” He says that the main focus all along has been on the aforementioned song.
6:00pm PST: Show’s over, folks! Right on schedule, the band packs up and shuts down the video feed for the night. Have a good evening!

смотрю щас видео из студии. бесит какойто малокосос прыгающий перед камерой! интересно чья это мартышка то? звук конешно сильно растраивает то слишком тихо то слишком громко, тяжело смотреть.
